The Children's Spot has received a grant to implement the Healthier Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Recognition Gold Award. This award is in recognition of support for the wellness efforts of child care centers participating in CACFP. We have improved our menus by adding fresh fruit for our afternoon snacks from local Walnut Creek Farms. Also, whole grain items have been upgraded to three times a day, instead of one. Dark green/red vegetables are now served three times per week. Our menus now have Vitamin C daily. We were careful with our choices to make sure the kids would still have delicious food.

The Children's Spot has taken steps to increase our children's physical activity as well. We have added our concrete track on the Schoolers' playground and purchased peddle go-carts. That is such a fun work out! We have also added 30 minutes of Music & Movement Class to every class. This will increase their activity time to 90 minutes per day.
